The Power of Agreement: A Sermon on Unity and Strength
In today`s world, it`s hard to find agreement on even the most basic topics. People are divided by politics, religion, and social issues, and it seems like there`s no end in sight. However, there is a powerful force that can bring people together and help them accomplish great things: agreement.
The Bible speaks often about the importance of agreement. In Matthew 18:19-20, Jesus tells his disciples, „Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” This passage emphasizes the power of coming together in agreement and how it can lead to extraordinary outcomes.
When we agree on something, we give our collective energy and attention to that thing. We become a unified force that is greater than the sum of our individual parts. This is why agreement is so crucial in achieving goals and solving problems. When we are united, we can accomplish anything.
In the context of a church, agreement is particularly important. A congregation that is divided cannot accomplish much for the kingdom of God. However, when people come together in agreement, they can move mountains. This is why it`s important for pastors and leaders to encourage unity and help people find common ground.
But agreement doesn`t just happen on its own. It requires intentional effort and a willingness to set aside personal differences for the greater good. As Christians, we are called to love one another and seek unity, even when it`s difficult. When we do this, we demonstrate the love of Christ and create a community that is attractive to outsiders.
So, what does it look like to live in agreement with one another? It means listening to others` perspectives and being open to different viewpoints. It means putting aside personal agendas and working towards a common goal. Most of all, it means loving one another and choosing to see the best in each other.
As we come together in agreement, we become a powerful force for good in this world. May we strive for unity and work towards the greater good, knowing that with God on our side, anything is possible.
